Tributes pour in for the late Chief Seth Kooitjie

Nama traditional leaders attended a meeting at the house of the late Chief Seth Kooitjie at Narraville over the weekend to discuss funeral arrangements. Chief Kooitjie who was the 39th leader of the #Aonin Topnaar clan died late on Thursday night at the age of 65 from what the family described as an asthma attack.

The Chief was complaining he was not feeling well and family members tried to assist him. His medical condition deteriorated rapidly and an ambulance was cal-led.
Chief Kooitjie was declared dead upon arrival at the Welwitschia Private Hospital, a family spokes-person Colin April told the media over the weekend.
Depending on what was decided at the customary meeting, funeral arrangements will be made public this week.
In the meantime, the Minister of Education, Arts and Culture, Katrina Hanse-Himarwa paid a courtesy visit to the loved ones and other mourners at the Kooitjie-residence at Narraville over the weekend.
The minister was in Walvis Bay for the inauguration of class-rooms at the Kuisebmond Secondary School and Narraville Primary School dona-ted by the Walvis Bay Chapter of the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Indus-try (NCCI).
She took time from her schedule to visit the mourning family where she described the Chief’s death as
