The SFC Vikings remain unbeaten in the NRU 1st Division. The team defeated Erongo Rugby Academy 77-0 over the weekend at Kudu Park in Narraville in Walvis Bay.

The defending champions from Swakopmund showed a classy display of excellent ball handling, composure in the general attack and managed 13 tries. The momentum displayed by Vikings left ERA helpless and the game ended in a whitewash.  “We’re always happy with a win, but what made this one special is the fact that we set goals for ourselves and the guys were determined as ever to achieve those goals. We never lost focus and stuck to our structures. We have to give credit to the men from Erongo Rugby Academy as they never gave up and kept coming at us throughout the 80 minutes. It was a game played in good spirit where true sportsmanship triumphed, and that’s what rugby is all about.
As for us, there are always improvements to be made, so we’ll hit up the old drawing board and discuss the areas to work on for the play offs.” said Jaco Barnard the coach/manager/player of Vikings after the game.
The tries were scored by Henning Joubert (1), Andre Strydom (1), Sheiton Besser (2), Martin Barnard (1), Lovelle Delie (1), Dirk von Weidts (1), Lionel Coetzee (3), Kyle Wentzel (1), Jaco Barnard (2), conversions by Dirk von Weidts (3), Kyle Wentzel (3).
The SFC Vikings will play in the NRU 1st Division quarter finals on 6 July 2019, with their opponents yet to be determined.
The SFC Vikings would like to thank to their main sponsors Castle Lite, Cars & Guides, Reef Break Realtors, Stellenberg Kwik Spar and Camelthorne Freight Forwarding.
