New Year’s Day crash on C14 – two South Africans killed

A fatal head-on collision on the C14 gravel road between Walvis Bay and Solitaire in the vicinity of the Gaub pass on New Year’s Day claimed the lives of two South African tourists. Five more people were seriously injured.

According to reports a SUV collided head-on with an ap-proaching tourist vehicle, which was transporting four French tourists and one Namibian guide. The accident occurred on a blind crest.
As the accident occurred in a remote area, it took emergency and rescue services close to two hours to reach the scene, the West Coast Safety Initiative (WCSI) reported.
The injured were stabilised at the scene and were transported to the Welwitschia Private Hospital at Walvis Bay.
